Storyline:The Duncans are ready for a great Christmas in Palm Springs. Soon at the airplane, Teddy offers to get off the plane since the flight attendant said that whoever gets off gets a free trip to Palm Springs. Of course, Amy has to follow her. That's when they realize that the next available flight is in 3 days. While Teddy and Amy frantically try to find a way to Palm Springs in time for Christmas, from junky rental cars to buses, the rest of the family goes about their usual crazy antics in Palm Springs. In the end, the family is reunited and learn a lesson about the true meaning of Christmas.
Teddy Duncan's middle-class family embarks on a road trip from their home in Denver to visit Mr. Duncan Parents, the Blankenhooper, in Palm Springs. When they find themselves stranded between Denver and Utah, they try to hitch a ride to Las Vegas with a seemingly normal older couple in a station wagon from Roswell, New Mexico. It turn out that the couple believes they are the victims of alien abduction. The Duncan's must resort to purchasing a clunker Yugo to get to Utah, have their luggage stolen in Las Vegas, and survive a zany Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma Blankenhooper.
