    Storyline:日本军队在缅甸战场受到英军的猛烈攻击，不得不向泰国撤退。溃军中的一队日本士兵唱着《士屋》歌，上等兵水岛弹着琴。部队在接近泰国边境时传来了日本战败的消息。于是大家放下了武器。水岛被派往附近的三角山，去劝说仍在抵抗的日军投降，一去便杳无音讯。当井上小队的降兵被送到缅甸南部的姆顿时，发现水岛还活着，原来三角山战斗停止后，他出家当了和尚，他与一只鹦鹉为友。随时随地掩埋日本军人的尸体，井上队长打听出了原委，也买了一只鹦鹉并教它说话。水岛听到士兵们的歌声，又弹起了竖琴，但是避而不见。然后又返回了森林。士兵们乘船离开缅甸。在荒凉的山岭上．水岛身披僧衣，遥望着远去的船。
