The third season of the Canadian police drama Rookie Blue starring Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith premiered on 24 May 2012 on Global in Canada.[1] In June 2012, it was announced that Rookie Blue has been renewed for a fourth season which is set to air during the summer of 2013.

After two years on the job, these rookies are well on their way to becoming experienced cops, but at what cost? What price will they have to pay both professionally and personally to succeed at their job? And how can they stay true to themselves, maintaining their individuality and compassion along the way?

Officer Andy McNally thinks she finally has everything she’s always wanted. Her three-month suspension for "conduct unbecoming an officer"—jeopardizing Sam Swarek’s undercover operation and, consequently, his safety—is behind her at long last. She is back at 15 Division and ready to move forward. But she’s learning that getting everything you ever wanted comes at a price—one that is much higher than she bargained for. Now she’s going to have to learn how to strike a balance, and to decide once and for all how much of her own happiness she should sacrifice to do this job.

The stakes of the job and its mortal consequences touch each of our rookies’ lives, as they see first-hand the high personal cost the uniform carries. Dov has always wanted to drive fast and shoot guns, but after he encounters a deadly situation on the job, his perspective on everything changes. Traci wants to be a detective, but when she achieves that goal, she finds it challenging in ways she’d never imagined. Chris has wanted to move beyond his small-town persona and be respected as a big-city cop, but he is finding that earning respect from his superiors is much harder than it looks. Gail—the legacy hire—is still trying to climb out from under the shadow her parents cast on her professional endeavors. And then there’s the Division’s newest rookie, Nick Collins, an ex-military hotshot who is trying to adapt to policing after serving in Afghanistan, and who also happens to be Gail’s old flame.
