　　宮本波留（竹野内豊）は、車の修理工場に勤める整備士。小さい頃から、ラジコンカー作りが大好きだった波留にとっては天職だ。明るくフレンドリーで腕もピカイチの波留は、上司や仕事仲間からの信頼も厚い。波留があえて修理工場で働くことを選んだのは、古いものでもきちんと直して手入れすれば、その車をもう一度新しいスタートへと押し出してやれると考えているからだ。そんな、いつもイキイキと働いている波留に、同僚の吉城桂は、ある種の憧れと尊敬を抱いている。
　　妻の可南子とは、彼女が働く図書館近くの公園で出会い、1年の交際を経て結婚した。結婚4年目になり、子どもはいないものの、可南子が傍にさえいてくれれば幸せだと考えている波留にとって、仕事も家庭も順風満帆であった。
　　そんな中、可南子が突然倒れてしまう。原因は、くも膜下出血。手術は成功したものの、波留と過ごした時の記憶だけが、すっぽりと無くなってしまった可南子。今までの二人の思い出も、自分の存在さえも、可南子の中から消えてしまったことを徐々に実感していく波留は、大きなショックを受ける。
　　しかし波留は「当たり前の生活」を失って、可南子こそが大切な存在だと再認識する。そして自分が彼女に恋をしたときの気持ちを改めて思い出し、自分を忘れた可南子に再びアタックすることを決める。
　　二人の前には、様々な困難が立ちはだかる。元々、波留を快く思っていない可南子の弟・裕樹や、波留への恋心が徐々に増していく桂の存在。波留との関係は良好だが、アイデンティティを失った、娘の可南子の今の気持ちを第一に考える母・万里子。
　　可南子の記憶喪失をきっかけに、周囲の人間模様も少しずつ変容していく。
