    Storyline:民国初年，外乡人刘冬宝一家来到江南某城，历尽艰辛掘出了一方水岸。恶霸赵定九以外地人无权享有本土为由，逼其重新划分水岸，刘家无奈只得依从。为划分岸，刘家长子刘连根与赵家雇佣的挑水夫龚大成脚蹬烧红的铁靴拼命奔走、踩踏，并让德高望重的曾老爷作公证。最后，龚大成虽然分得一段水岸，但他与刘连根却为此付出自己的生命。26年后，刘家、龚家、赵家的后代都已长大成人。
